Funky Time on Stake: letters, the disco and the bonus rounds

Funky Time is an Evolution game show with a large wheel of letter segments and several disco-themed bonus rounds. Letter bets pay at fixed odds, and bonus segments open separate rounds with multipliers. It's built in a similar style to Crazy Time. Payouts, bonus rules and the return for each spot are in the help panel. 18+.

The wheel

Funky Time uses a wheel with many letter segments. Letters spell words on the betting layout, and you can bet on single letters or on whole words. Each letter pays at fixed odds, listed in the help panel. There are also bonus segments and, depending on the version, other special segments. The help panel shows how many of each the wheel has, which tells you how often each spot should land.

Letter and word bets

A bet on one letter wins only if that letter lands. A bet on a whole word spreads your stake across its letters, so you win more often but each win is smaller relative to the total stake. Word bets don't change the average; they change how often you see a win. Read the help panel for how each word bet splits your stake.

The bonus rounds

Funky Time's bonuses are disco-themed. They include rounds where a host or a dancing character moves along a board or a lit-up floor, collecting multipliers, and rounds built around a big wheel or a ball. The names and rules can change as Evolution updates the show, so we won't list them as fixed facts here. The help panel describes each bonus currently in the game.

Return by bet spot

As with other shows, each spot has its own published return. Letter spots and bonus spots differ. Bonus spots swing most. The help panel lists every figure.

A worked example

Invented numbers. You bet 2 on the word "FUNK", which spreads 0.50 across four letters. Most spins, one of the many letters lands, but often not one of yours. When one of yours lands, the win on that letter is paid at its odds, minus the stakes on the other three. Over a session, the average cost is roughly the same as single-letter bets if those letters carry the same return (check the help panel). The ride is smoother.

Play Funky Time

  1. Read the help panel for letter payouts, bonuses and returns.
  2. Set your stake and a stop point.
  3. Bet on letters, words or bonus segments.
  4. Watch the spin.
  5. If a backed bonus lands, follow the round on screen.

Pace

Funky Time rounds can include long bonus sequences, so a session may cover fewer spins than you expect. Fewer spins mean less wagered per hour at the same stake.

How it compares with Crazy Time

Both are Evolution shows with a large wheel and several bonus rounds. Crazy Time uses numbers and a Top Slot; Funky Time uses letters and words with disco bonuses. Both are high volatility. If you like one, the other will feel familiar. See Crazy Time, Monopoly Live and the game shows hub.

Myths

Waiting for a bonus to be "due" doesn't work. Each spin is independent. Our live dealer tips explain more.

Data and devices

The disco animation is heavy on data. Use Wi-Fi where you can, and see live casino on mobile for tips.

Responsible play

Shows with music and lights are designed to keep you watching. Gambling can be addictive, so decide your budget and a stop time first, and use Stake's deposit limits if you need them. You must be 18+, or older where the legal age is higher. Stake.com doesn't accept players from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ontario or the rest of its prohibited list, which can change. Check the availability page, and don't use a VPN to get around a block. It breaks Stake's terms.

Picking a betting style

There are two broad ways to play. Spread bets across many letters or whole words and you'll see frequent small wins with fewer big moments. Back only bonus segments and you'll lose most spins, then occasionally hit a bonus that may pay well or modestly. Both carry the house edge. Pick the ride you enjoy and size your stake so your budget lasts the session you want.

Limits

Shows usually allow small bets on each spot, so you can try Funky Time cheaply. Your bonus win depends only on what you staked on that bonus segment. A bet that's too small to matter on its own will give a small bonus too. Our table limits and etiquette guide explains sizing in more detail.

Watching first

You can join and watch without betting. A few bonus rounds will teach you more than any guide.

Who it suits

Players who like big, produced shows with music and a lot happening. If you prefer a simpler wheel, try Mega Wheel.

Help panel first

The bonus rounds have their own rules, so read the help panel before your first bet, and again if the show looks different; studios update their games.
