Where Stake.com accepts players, and where it doesn't

Stake's terms prohibit play from 44 places, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ontario, France, the Netherlands and South Africa. The rule follows where you are, not your passport. Being missing from the list doesn't make Stake legal for you. Check this page and your local law before you sign up.

Stake's prohibited list

This is the list in Stake.com's terms, clause 14.3, as checked on 13 October 2026, in the order the terms give it:

Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Curaçao, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Liberia, Libya, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, North Korea, Ontario, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sudan, Syria, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, Zimbabwe.

Stake also refuses anyone on US, EU or other sanctions lists. The list can change, so check Stake's terms on the day you sign up.

It's about where you are

The rules cover anyone located in those places, whatever their citizenship. If you live somewhere Stake accepts players but you're traveling in a prohibited place, you can't play from there.

VPNs and proxies

Using a VPN or proxy to hide your location breaches Stake's terms and puts your account at risk. We won't explain any way around a block, and that includes "mirror" links. Stake lists its only official mirrors in its help center, and they aren't a way in from a prohibited place.

If your country isn't on Stake's list, Stake's terms don't block you. Your own country's law is a separate question. Some places restrict online gambling with unlicensed operators, or restrict advertising it. Check your local law before you sign up. We hold back some markets from our own guides while we check local rules.

Separate Stake products

Stake Brazil and Stake Colombia are separately licensed products, and Stake Mexico is separate too. This guide covers Stake.com only, and Brazil, Colombia and Mexico are on Stake.com's prohibited list.

Age

You must be 18, or the legal age of majority or gambling where you live, whichever is higher. Stake can ask for proof of age.

FAQ

Is Stake available in the US or UK?

No. Both are on Stake's prohibited list.

What about the rest of Canada?

Ontario is on the list. The rest of Canada isn't, but check your provincial law.

Can I play while traveling?

Not from a prohibited place. The rules follow where you are.

Is Stake.us the same site?

No. Stake.us is a different product, and this guide covers Stake.com only.

Why is my country on the list?

Stake doesn't publish reasons for each entry. Many listed countries run their own licensing systems, but that's our observation, not Stake's explanation.
