Bac Bo on Stake: baccarat played with dice

Bac Bo is an Evolution game that plays baccarat with dice. You bet on Player, Banker or Tie. Each side rolls two dice, and the higher total wins. There are no drawing rules to learn, so rounds are quick and simple. How ties affect Player and Banker bets, and every payout, is set out in the help panel. 18+.

How a round works

A Bac Bo round

  1. Betting opens. You bet on Player, Banker, Tie or side bets.
  2. Betting closes.
  3. Two dice are rolled for Player.
  4. Two dice are rolled for Banker.
  5. The higher total wins. Equal totals are a tie.

Each side's total runs from 2 to 12. In the standard version, unlike card baccarat, there's no "last digit only" rule and no third card. The dice decide everything in one roll per side.

TieTotals are equalPays more, lands less often

In card baccarat, Banker wins slightly more often because of the drawing rules, and pays a commission to balance it. Bac Bo has no drawing rules, so Player and Banker are symmetrical. That changes the payouts and how ties are treated. The help panel is the place to check whether a tie returns part or all of a Player or Banker bet, or loses it.

The Tie bet

Two dice totals match less often than they differ. The Tie bet pays more to make up for it, and some versions pay different amounts depending on which total ties. Like the Tie in card baccarat, it generally carries a higher edge than the main bets. Read the help panel for its payout table.

Side bets

Bac Bo may offer side bets on the dice themselves, such as a specific total or a pair. Each has its own payout and, typically, a higher edge than Player or Banker. Keep them small or skip them.

A worked example

Invented numbers. You bet 5 on Player. Player rolls 4 and 5, a total of 9. Banker rolls 6 and 6, a total of 12. Banker wins and you lose 5. Next round, Player rolls 11, Banker 7, and you win at the Player payout. If both roll 8, it's a tie; the help panel says what happens to your Player bet.

History and patterns

Bac Bo shows a history of results like other baccarat games. Patterns in that history don't predict the next roll. Dice have no memory. Our live dealer tips explain why road reading doesn't help.

Pace

Rounds are short, so you'll play many per hour. At the same stake, that means more wagered per hour than slower games. Set a time limit as well as a budget.

Who it suits

Players who want a quick, simple game with low decision load. For more dice games, see craps, Sic Bo and dice and Super Sic Bo. For a card game that's equally simple, try Dragon Tiger.

Limits

Bac Bo tables show their limits on the tile or in the table info. Our table limits and etiquette guide explains how to choose a table by budget.

Responsible play

Fast games make it easy to bet more than you meant to. Gambling can be addictive, so set your budget, decide how many rounds you'll play, and use Stake's deposit limits if you need a firm stop. 18+ only, or the higher legal age where you live. Stake.com isn't available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ontario or the other places on Stake's prohibited list, and the list can change, so check our availability page. Using a VPN to get around a block breaks Stake's terms.

The odds behind the dice

With two dice, totals near 7 are the most common and 2 or 12 are the rarest. Both sides use the same dice, so neither has an edge over the other before payouts. Ties are most likely on the middle totals, because those come up most often. That's why some versions pay more for a tie on rare totals like 2 or 12 than on 7. The help panel shows the tie payout table for the version Stake offers.

Equipment and fairness

The dice are rolled in the studio and read on camera. The studio's licensing and testing are separate from Stake's, and the studio publishes those details itself. If a result looks wrong, note the round ID from the history, take a screenshot and contact Stake's 24/7 live chat while logged in.

Bet sizing

Because rounds are fast, a stake that feels small can add up quickly. Invented numbers: at 2 a round and a fast pace, you could wager well over a hundred in a single hour. Decide the hourly amount you're comfortable with and set your stake from that, not the other way round.
