Registering on Stake from a computer, safely

Registering on a computer is the best time to set up your account's security. Use a password manager for a unique password, consider a passkey, bookmark the real stake.com, and learn what fake copies look like. Stake warns that scammers build fake versions of its site to steal logins. This page shows you how to avoid them. 18+.

Start from the real domain

Type stake.com yourself. Search ads and links in messages are the most common way people land on fakes. Check the address bar for an added, missing or swapped letter before you enter anything.

Stake's help center lists its only official mirror sites. Any other "mirror" link is fake. Mirrors aren't a way to reach Stake from a prohibited place.

Password manager

Let a password manager create and store a long, unique password. It also helps against fakes: a manager won't autofill on a domain it doesn't recognize, which is a useful warning sign.

Passkeys

Stake supports passkeys as a login option. A passkey is tied to your device and the real domain, so it can't be typed into a fake site. Set one up once your account is open.

Secure sign-up on a computer

  1. Type stake.com and bookmark it.
  2. Register with email and a password from your password manager, or a social login.
  3. Verify your email from the message sent by noreply@stake.com.
  4. Turn on 2FA in Settings, then Security.
  5. Add a passkey if you want a second way in.
  6. Set a deposit limit.

Browser and network

Keep your browser updated. If a privacy extension blocks the sign-up form or captcha, allow it for stake.com only. Don't sign up through a VPN or proxy. Using one to hide your location breaches Stake's terms. Work networks may also be filtered.
