Registering on Stake with an iPhone or Android phone

Signing up on a phone follows the main registration steps, with a few phone-only snags. Social login can hop between apps, autofill can enter the wrong birth date, and the verification email may open in a different browser. Setting up 2FA on the same phone needs a small trick. This page covers each one.

Social login hand-offs

If you choose Google, Facebook or Kick, your phone may switch to that app to confirm, then back to the browser. If you land on a blank page, go back to stake.com in your browser. You're often already signed in. If it fails twice, try email sign-up instead.

Autofill

Phones fill forms eagerly. Check the name, date of birth and address fields before you submit. A wrong birth date can cause trouble later, and you can't fix it by opening a new account.

The verification email

The link may open in your mail app's built-in browser rather than Safari or Chrome. That's fine. Confirm there, then return to your usual browser and log in again if asked. The email should come from noreply@stake.com. If it comes from any other domain, don't click it.

2FA on the same phone

Your authenticator app and Stake are on one device, so you can't scan the QR code with the camera. Use the setup key instead.

Set up 2FA on one phone

  1. Install an authenticator app.
  2. In Stake, go to Settings, then Security, and start 2FA setup.
  3. Copy the setup key Stake shows.
  4. In the authenticator, choose to add an account by key and paste it.
  5. Enter the six-digit code back in Stake, then confirm the email link Stake sends.

Never share the QR code or setup key with anyone. Stake's own 2FA article says the same.

Add a home-screen shortcut

Once you're in, add Stake to your home screen so you always open the real domain. The steps are in Stake on mobile. Don't install Stake files from messages or unofficial stores.
